Come Monday mornings, teachers and school nurses are seeing children arrive at school with stomach aches, dizziness and overall lethargy. In an effort to alleviate this problem and give every child in the Kings Local School District the proper nutrition they need throughout the entire week, the Kings Power Pack Program was started.
There are children that rely on resources such as free or reduced-priced school lunches during the week. The Power Pack Program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. Through a partnership with the Kings Local School District, Joshua’s Place is helping to meet this need by providing 225 children with a backpack full of food every Friday during the school year.
Starting this fall, the Power Pack Program will extend into the Mason City School District to meet the needs of more children within local schools!
