Without question, this has been the most significant and most impactful year ever for Joshua’s Place, all of it made possible by the generosity of our financial supporters. As we head into 2020, we want to invite you to sow seeds of hope into the next year of ministry at Joshua’s Place.

Whiz Kids: Christmas Parties

Whiz Kids’ annual Christmas Party took place this month as a mid-year highlight for the more than 100 tutored kids from our sites in Kings, Little Miami, and Lebanon School Districts.

Joshua’s Place is thrilled to be a part of the relationship-building accomplished through this ministry!

At the parties, tutors and students enjoyed snacks, exchanged gifts, and played Christmas games with wrapping and toilet paper! Additionally, each child took home the supplies to bake a Birthday Cake for Jesus with their families.Thank you to all that give so selflessly to make this program a success!

Mason Cares: Providing Hope

Joshua’s Place facilitated the sponsorship of 286 children and 130 families with Mason Cares. Volunteers stepped up to collect funds and gifts, confirmed that families’ needs with accuracy, and bagged gifts and needs by household.
The goal of Mason Cares is to come alongside the school district counselors to help provide holiday gifts to children in need while supporting families. When families arrived for pickup, they were treated to some festive snacks and were able to select some extra plush toys and gift wrapping supplies.
This year Mason Cares teamed up with the Mason Student Government, who raised an additional $5650, beyond the 50 kids they sponsored. The Mason Student Government made it possible to give each family an additional $50-$100 gift card (based on household size). That’s a total of almost $30,000 in gifts, gift cards, and wrapping supplies!

Volunteer Spotlight: Denvil & Thelma Peyton

“It’s hard to explain all that this couple does at Joshua’s Place because they step-up and volunteer in so many ways!” ~Nona Peyton
This newsletter’s Volunteer Spotlight honors Denvil and Thelma Peyton.
Thelma serves as a Whiz Kid tutor in the Kings location. She also makes the snacks and is well-known by the kids for her peanut butter and honey sandwiches! While Thelma helps implement the workings of the program, Denvil makes sure the ministry starts and ends well every week by helping with set up and tear down.
Thelma has also served at Summer Camp teaching discovery classes on cooking and cake decorating. She and Denvil, both help at Celebrate Recovery, serving dinner and help lead the prayer ministry.
Denvil helps with the Power Pack program in Kings. He helps receive the food delivery from Shared Harvest and also helps distribute the packs at South Lebanon Elementary on Friday mornings. He is Susan’s first call if we need anything built or fixed. He is always up for a project!
Joshua’s Place appreciates the time Denvil and Thelma have poured into the ministry, striving to break the chains of generational poverty and pointing lives to the love of Christ!
