Co-Op Town Hall & Appreciation Dinner

Last month we held a town hall and appreciation dinner for our Food Cooperative Coordinators. We have 40 Coordinators who meet personally with each Food Co-Op member bi-weekly at our four sites.

The Joshua’s Place Food Cooperative is a nationally recognized innovative approach to walking alongside families experiencing poverty. Members pay $5 and receive $60 in groceries at each visit, meet with a coordinator, and take one development course per membership year (i.e., financial literacy, parenting, health & wellness, etc.). The relationships built between our members and Coordinators are transformative and critical to the success of this program.

ff.jpgAdult Development Class Re-Launch—Faith & Finance

One of our Food Cooperative program requirements is attending one development class each year. Over the past month, we kicked off our Faith and Finances development class in Lebanon. Our Members and Joshua’s Place Allies will attend this class for the next eight weeks.

Faith and Finances is a course that equips individuals and families with a Biblical vision of how the comprehensive healing of Jesus encompasses finances. The participants will learn money management skills relevant to their everyday lives through this course while building lasting relationships.

Volunteer Spotlight—Jeff & Michele Robinette

“I believe if Jesus was literally here

in Lebanon…that’s where He would

be every other Thursday night.

So why not you?”

~Michele Robinette

Over the last nine months, Jeff and Michele Robinette have enjoyed meeting kids and families through their service at JP’s Food Co-Op and Reading Recovery program. They believe showing up week after week has impacted their lives as much as those who enroll in the programs! They have personally grown by stepping outside their comfort zones to share the love of Christ through conversations and building relationships.

Joshua’s Place provides many opportunities to serve the local community in the Food Co-op program–greeting partipants, stocking pantries, and serving as a coordinator who mentors and prays for families enrolled in personal development courses.
