Joshua’s Place exists to help individuals and families overcome the barriers in their lives that cause instability. We believe every person is an image-bearer of God and therefore has tremendous value and worth. We work to preserve that worth by only helping in a way that preserves dignity and promotes personal engagement.

Joshua’s Place Volunteer Spotlight

Joshua’s Place has produced a series of videos that share the Why, What, and How of Joshua’s Place–walking you through our motivations, the symptoms and sources of poverty, and our methods (how we do our work).

WHY—Our Motivation

This first video explains WHY we do what we do at Joshua’s Place–
sharing the biblical and practical basis for serving those struggling in poverty.

WHAT—Defining the Symptoms and Sources of Poverty

In this video, we discuss WHAT are symptoms of poverty and identify
the three sources of poverty in America. Poverty is a complex problem,
and we harm struggling families when we over-simplify our help.
It’s a controversial topic that requires a heart AND mind for the poor.

HOW—The way we work

In the final video of our three-part series, we discuss the HOW
or the way we do our work. We talk about the critical nature of
relationships and dive deeper into the programs we offer.

Golf Classic Hole Sponsors are needed throughout the course—providing an excellent opportunity to advertise your local business, church, or ministry! By becoming a sponsor at this $300 level, your company’s logo will be placed on one whole sign on the golf course and can provide promotional materials to be included in golf participants’ “swag bag.”

Meet Sherry & Lyn Truitt! Three years ago, they began their journey at Joshua’s Place in the Whiz Kids program as full-time tutors in South Lebanon and substitutes in Little Miami. Now they regularly volunteer at the Food Co-Op Program when the need came about in both locations. They enjoy sharing God’s love in practical, caring ways. By sharing this experience, they have also seen it strengthen their marriage.
Sherry wanted to share her life experiences with others in a loving and safe environment. She says, “I now know God is always there and has always been. I count my blessings and share God’s love when interacting with those we help. Even though some stories are tragic, I know that I can encourage, give hope, bless, and pray for the participants that I come in contact with.”
The Development Food Co-op (DFC) is much more than a Food Pantry. We help families get out of poverty by providing financial benefits, but more importantly, personal development opportunities. If you are interested in serving others through this Joshua’s Place program, please click the “Volunteer Today” link below!
